3 of a kind

The Magic acquired Tyson Chandler and Othella Harrington for Steve Francis and Mario Kasun! Chandler meets his old partner Eddy Curry, since they split up when Curry went to New York! Steve Francis had some problems with his coach Bruno Maciel and his performances didn't convinced him! Bruno Maciel has now 3 big men, capable of scoring and rebounding above two digits. The Magic's inside area is now one of the most powerful in the league! Now that Francis is gone, Ricky Davis will have his play minutes, and have more shots of his own! Jameer Nelson will now have the chance to stablish his game as a starter!

Defensive effort makes history

The Orlando Magic won 2 of their 3 games this week. The Magic are on a good run, trying to get back from that horrible start! They have now a 4-5 record, but they are still trying to find a way to win away games. The last 4 visits... were the last 4 losses!

But they made a huge performance in the 13th day, edging the Spurs by 92-59!!! The Orlando Magic allowed the formers champions to score only 59 points! Dwight Howard was named the player of the game with 16 points, 15 boards, 5 steals and 2 blocks! Impressive! Steve Francis back from his injury led the Magic in scoring with 21 points. The Spurs have never scored more than 17 points (2nd period)!

The Magic will rest now as they have 9 days until the next game versus Cleveland, at the Waterhouse Center!

Magic on the right track, despite Francis's injury

The Orlando Magic are now totally recovered from that bad start! Dwight Howard was impressive, this week, as Orlando played without their swingman Steve Francis. He averaged 26.3 ppg and 12.6 rpg in Orlando last three games! The 2nd year pro is showing everyone why the Magic prefered him instead Okafor, in last year's draft! The Magic went to New Jersey where they lost extending their loosing streak to 4 games. Back at home, the Magic won 2 consecutive games edging the Suns and the Hawks. Steve Francis is now wealthy again and prepared to face the next games against the Wizards, Celtics and... the Spurs! «Rumours says that Grant Hill is being dealed to New York. We know from reliable sources that Hill was about to move earlier, in a trade which would include Dooling, Augmon and and Outlaw, for Kelvin Cato (he started the season in Orlando), Jerome James, David Lee, Scott Pollard and a 06 draft pick. The deal is now suspended as far as we know because Pollard was recently waived by the Knicks

Where's the «Magic»???

The Magic went 0-3 in the start of the season! Losses against Bulls at home, in New Jersey and at New Orleans! They are avering only 87 ppg! An horrific start by Bruno Maciel as Magic's GM... Steve Francis was still trying to find his shots when he got injured with a dislocated finger and he's now out of action in the next 4 days.
Eddy Curry was the only player, performing above the expectations, leading the Magic in scoring, 17.3 ppg.
The Magic will go to New Jersey, and then play with the Suns and the Hawks at the Waterhouse Center. With Francis out Ricky Davis will replace him in the starting line-up.

Orlando Magic: Ricky Davis is the new addition

Ricky Davis is now a Magic player! The ex-celtic averages 19.6 ppg, 4.40 rpg and 4.80 apg, and will help running the offense! Who went away was Quentin Richardson... that is now at Boston! Worried about his absence in the starting line-up in Orlando, Q-Rich asked to be transfered, and now he has the chance to be a starter next to Pierce. With Davis' arrival, Jameer Nelson will now play in a rotation system as Francis' backup. With Steve Francis, Ricky Davis, Grant Hill, Dwight Howard and Eddy Curry... the Magic have now an impressive offense power! The Magic are now one of the most competitive teams in the Eastern Conference as they became a Conference Title contender. Bruno Maciel is still trying to trade Steve Francis for a good point guard and a center, but there are rumours saying Bruno Maciel had a conversation with Stevie about his departure, and it seems the player convinced his coach to remain a Magic player...

Jumaine Jones headed to Orlando

Jumaine Jones signed contract with Orlando Magic! After playing in Los Angeles last year, Jones was a free-agent and free to sign with any team. In LA the small forward registered 7.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg and .391 from downtown! He's in his 7th year pro but never stept up as a starter! His long range shooting ability could be useful to Magic, but with Grant Hill, Quentin Richardson... and Turkoglu battling for the SF spot... it will be very hard to get many minutes!
Bruno Maciel was very clearly about his role: « Jumaine Jones is great 3 pt shooter, and has some quality defensive skills, but was not our priority! Yesterday we brought Quentin Richardson... and that was just enough, now we have plenty of SF's!!! Maybe we can put him in the next trade package! To be honest we were expecting to sign with Brevin Knight, we are in need of point guards, so that's the direction (...) we'll start dealing now to find a good PG that fits in our squad!».
As we could see the Magic's GM was not very happy with his board's decision. Obviously, with the Richardson's arrival, Jones is not necessary... and all he wanted was Knight! Rumours says Steve Francis is about to leave Orlando... is that true? Wait and see what is about to happen...

Quentin Richardson, Eddy Curry moving to Orlando

The Magic and Knicks have sealed a deal, trading Eddie Curry and Quentin Richardson to Orlando, and Cato, Battie and a 1st round pick to New York! The Magic are still in the market, and besides Dwight Howard everyone is on the trade block! Curry will earn a spot in the line-up, and Quentin Richardson will battle to become a starter against Grant Hill! The Magic's GM Bruno Maciel was glad with his new players and marked Orlando position's in the East Conference saying he wanted to battle for the top eastern spots!

Let's make «Magic»

(...) in a press conference Bruno Maciel, the Magic's General Manager said what he expects from his team: « Well... the goal is to achieve the Playoffs, but if not, it will not be a problem! We have a young and talented team, and now i just have to give them the tools they need to their development!»
Reporter: There are many teams interested in Dwight Howard, will you trade him?
BM: Howard is my protegée... i won't trade him! Well depends on who comes... but i don't think there's a player like him at the moment! So young and so talented! If he works hard, he'll be one of the best athletes on NBA!
Reporter: And what about Grant Hill?
BM: I didn't want to talk about trades right now! Grant Hill is important to the team, his experience will help a lot, he's that kind of guy who scores 20 ppg and still has lot to offer to the youngsters!
It seems that Orlando's new coach knows what he does, and we all in the city hope he can bring winnings to the team, who struggles since O'neal and Hardaway left.
